Do You Qualify for the government to pay for your Energy upgrades?

Ford’s HVAC partners with the Single Family Housing Repair Loans & Grants Program, which is a federally funded initiative aimed at helping low-income and elderly households to ensure that their homes are safe and in working order.

By providing services such as insulation, HVAC upgrades, and other energy-saving measures, the program helps repair, improve or modernize homes or remove health and safety hazards.

What Is the Section 504 Housing repair Program?

The Section 504 Housing Repair Loans & Grant Program is administered by the office of USDA Rural Development and the Housing Act of 1949. The program’s goal is to help people stay in their own home and keep it in good repair in order to help stabilize families and communities.

Who is Eligible for This HVAC Government Grant & Loan Program

Be the Homeowner and Occupy the house
Be unable to obtain affordable credit elsewhere
Have a household income that does not exceed the very low limit by county. For example, in Barren, Monroe, or Metcalfe counties a household of 4 or less would qualify with an income under $32,800 and a household of 5-8 with an income under $43,800.
For grants, be age 62 or older

How Funds May Be Used

Loans: Can be utilized for repairing, improving, or modernizing homes, as well as eliminating health and safety hazards.

Grants: Must specifically be used to address and remove health and safety hazards.

How much money can I qualify for?

Maximum loan is $40,000
Maximum grant is $10,000
Loans and grants can be combined for up to $50,000 in assistance

Basic Terms of the Loan or Grant

Loans:

Term Length: 20 years
Interest Rate: Fixed at 1%
Title Service: Required if the total outstanding balance on Section 504 loans exceeds $25,000

Grants:

Lifetime Limit: $10,000
Repayment: Required if the property is sold within 3 years

Download, print, and complete this 34 page document. You will also need to provide proof of income, residency, and other required documents to support your application.
